Kolorowe uchwyty do mebli DOT Manufacture na targach WARSAW HOME 2018

Colorful DOT Manufacture furniture handles at the WARSAW HOME 2018 fair

In October 2018, we participated in the Warsaw Home interior design trade fair. It was crucial for us that our stand looked beautiful – on the one hand, we wanted it to attract the attention of passing visitors, and on the other, we wanted to properly showcase our handles, furniture knobs, and hangers. This is no easy task, so we began preparing many months before the trade fair itself.

The first step was to determine the role of our display and the desired atmosphere at the stand. We decided we wanted to showcase as many of our products as possible – after all, visitors come to the Warsaw Home trade fair from all over Poland. We wanted everyone to be able to see for themselves how perfectly we finish our handles and how comfortable they are. We wanted to give people from outside Warsaw, who don't have the opportunity to visit our Żoliborz studio, the opportunity to see and touch as many handles and hangers as possible. How could we achieve this without creating chaos in the display?

Choosing knob colors for your stand design

After many trials, discussions, and simulations, we settled on a design resembling an asymmetrical wave flowing around the Manufaktura DOT logo, "painted" with our handles. To ensure this design was clear, effective, and aesthetically pleasing, it wasn't enough to simply arrange the knobs and handles in a pattern. We also needed a play of colors.

Fortunately, our Manufaktura has a lot to offer in this regard. If calm, natural, and neutral colors were desired, we had a full range of wooden knobs, handles, and hangers at our disposal. Some enameled knobs (e.g., the gold knob from the STRUCTURE collection) and glass knobs (new additions: round gold glass knobs) also matched these. For vibrant, saturated, or dark and intense colors, we could draw on our palette of enameled and glass knobs – this provided us with a choice of yellow, green, various shades of blue, and red. From this multitude of colors and shapes, we were able to create a cohesive, clear design.

How to display 1000 colorful handles, knobs and hangers!?

On paper, everything looked good, but after translating the design into a computer program and refining its details, it turned out that approximately 1,000 knobs and handles were needed to complete the project. The only thing left to do was to complete the design, assigning a place to each knob, even the smallest one, and then roll up our sleeves and get down to making over 900 handles.

Fulfilling this "order" took us quite a while, but because we got started early, everything was ready on time. When assembling the stand, anticipating that translating our idea into reality wouldn't be easy, we hired additional staff (very patient and helpful relatives and friends who are crazy about assembling rabbits 🙂 ). Installing the brackets on the wall alone took a full day, but the result was worth the effort. We managed to translate our design into the stand without significant changes or compromises, and all that was left was to finalize the other details and wait for the fair to open.

Furniture knobs and handles exhibition at trade fairs – meetings with customers

We always enjoy exhibiting at trade shows because it gives us an unparalleled opportunity to talk to our clients and other industry professionals, which is essential for our sustainable operations as a manufacturer. We can learn what our clients need, what they like, and what they don't. We always welcome any feedback. During the four days of the show, we received a lot of positive feedback from attendees about our stand. We wanted it to look beautiful and unique, while also contributing to the unique atmosphere that prevails every year at the Poland Design Festival, which is comprised of the projects and efforts of many brands like ours, people passionate about their work. We feel this exhibition served its purpose very well, and we can't wait to start working on the next one 🙂 for the Warsaw Home 2020 Trade Fair!
